Stop procrastinating, family photos can be fun.
When was the last time you had family photos taken? Sara and Dustin showed me the image from their last family photo session over five years ago. No judgments from me. I have only had one professional family session in the last seven years! If you're a busy parent, you can completely identify with your plan to add family photos to your to do list, but somehow it never quite made it on the calendar and now your youngest is over half your body size and sprouting adult teeth. Family photos can bring up lots of procrastination and dread.
I kept adding getting family photos done to my mental to do list, but somehow it never made it from the “should do” list to actually scheduled and on my calendar for years. For me, the major drain was worrying about how my kids would be. I have three boys who all have ADHD and they can honestly be a lot of wild energy. So I waited *ahem* procrastinated and then finally booked a photographer friend because she also has multiple chaos makers and I knew she would not judge me.
I am super honored to do the same for Sara and Dustin all that they wanted was some really fun images that showed everyone’s personality. I photographed them playing together in Rock Bay skipping stones, finding heart shaped rocks and snuggling together. For the dreaded posed family photo we made a game out of having at least one person blink or make a silly face and of course this makes everyone genuinely giggle. The kids loved trying to gross me out by talking about farts, poo and the weird mushrooms that grow on it que over the top squeals from me and snorts of laughter from them. Then they played in the yard with the chickens Lucky and Dolly. Yes, Dolly lovingly named after Dolly Parton. I am so excited to share beautiful fun photos of all five of them, well actually Six with Rosie, the adorable labradoodle I am happy to say they have lot’s of personality and genuine connection.
